Terms of Use
Last updated: 29 July 2026
These terms cover your use of Clutch, an iPhone app published by Conatus ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
What Clutch is — and isn't
Clutch is a productivity and attention-management tool. It is not a medical device, a treatment, or a substitute for professional care. Lumi is an AI coach, not a therapist, doctor or counsellor. If you are struggling with compulsive technology use, anxiety, or anything else affecting your health, please talk to a qualified professional.
Clutch cannot lock you out of your phone. iOS does not allow it, and we do not claim otherwise. Every blocking and removal-protection feature in Clutch is friction — designed to interrupt an impulse, defeatable by a determined user. Do not rely on Clutch as a safety mechanism for anything that matters.
Your account
You need an account to use Clutch. Keep your sign-in secure, give us accurate information, and don't share your account. You must be 13 or older. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Subscriptions and billing
- Clutch Pro is a recurring auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID at the price shown in the App Store for your region.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period runs out.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's policy, not by us. We can't issue App Store refunds directly, but tell us if something went wrong and we'll help where we can.
- Cancelling Pro drops you to the free tier. Blocking, sessions, goals, verification and your streak history remain available.
We may change pricing for future periods. If we do, you'll be told before the change applies to you, and you can cancel.
Using the app properly
Don't do any of the following:
- Reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app or our servers, except where that right can't be excluded by law.
- Use Clutch to harass anyone, including through the friends and roast features.
- Submit verification evidence that misrepresents what you did — it only cheats you, but it also isn't allowed.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, resell access, or automate abuse of the AI features.
We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, and we'll tell you why where we reasonably can.
AI-generated content
Lumi's replies are generated by an AI model and can be wrong, oddly worded, or inappropriate to your situation. Treat them as prompts to think, not instructions to follow. You are responsible for your own decisions.
Your content
Your goals, journal entries, messages and verification media stay yours. You grant us only the licence needed to operate the service for you — storing it, processing it, and sending the necessary parts to our AI provider to generate Lumi's replies. We don't use your content to advertise to you, and we don't sell it.
Availability
We aim to keep Clutch running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and some — including anything marked as rolling out or in beta — may be delayed, altered, or dropped. Clutch depends on Apple's platform frameworks, and changes to iOS can affect what the app can do.
Disclaimers and liability
Clutch is provided "as is," without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. To the fullest extent the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost productivity, lost data, or anything arising from a blocking feature failing to block. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
Ending things
You can stop using Clutch and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may end your access if you materially breach these terms or if we discontinue the service — in the latter case, with reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date above when these terms change, and give notice in the app for material changes. Continuing to use Clutch after that means you accept the new terms.
